How Winsford Gardens came to be

a hundred years in the making

After WW1

The NZ government balloted a number of 10 acre “wilderness” land blocks to returning soldiers. If the soldier had broken in the land and was still living there after 5 years, it was gifted to him. That was the case with our patch of paradise.

200 Totara trees

The soldier who won the ballot chose to plant 200 Totara trees. Those trees are still standing today and form the basis for what the rest of the gardens are developed around.

Peter & Dianne

Around 20 years ago Peter, a gardener by trade whose gardens have won prestigious competitions, and Dianne entered Winsford’s story. They have since created large ponds, waterways and unique garden art around the Totaras.

Catering

The meals and drinks should be memorable.

That is why we can recommend some amazing caterers. Whether you want a full buffet, some tasty finger food, grazing platters, or food truck fare, we can connect you with great suppliers.

We don’t provide our own catering, but we have plenty of space for your choice of caterer to set up. We supply fridges and serving tables for your convenience.

Do you provide catering?

We don’t provide our own catering here at Winsford Gardens, but we have plenty of space for your choice of caterer to set up. We supply fridges and serving tables, and can recommend some amazing caterers.

How many guests can you host?

Ceremony and photo bookings suit up to 160 guests. Ceremony and reception pricing covers 55 to 200 guests, with other numbers by quotation.

How long do we have the gardens?

Option 2 gives you use of the gardens for up to 3 days: the first for set up, decorating and rehearsals, the second for the big day and the third for dismantling.

Can we rehearse at the venue?

Yes. All options include the use of the gardens for rehearsal.

Do you supply marquees and furniture?

We can handle everything from silk lined marquee to tables, chairs, crockery, cutlery and music. We have a range of luxury marquees for intimate weddings through to larger gatherings.

What deposit is required?

A $500.00 deposit when confirming a booking. It is non-refundable, but you can transfer it to another date if you need to.

Are prices GST inclusive?

Yes, all quoted prices are GST inclusive.
